The Food Safari combines the elegant cliff-top luxury of Southern Ocean Lodge with daily expeditions among the producers who have helped forge the island’s reputation for high-quality food and sustainable practices.
Returning 28 July to 4 August, 2018; a highlight of this year’s itinerary is a special dinner created by The Lane Vineyard’s Executive Chef James Brinklow, presented with matched wines from the acclaimed Adelaide Hills winery by Ben Tolstoshev.
Island expeditions include a visit to the Island Pure sheep dairy, a long lunch at Lifetime Private Retreats on the north coast and an experience of the ground-breaking Aquaculture Skills Centre at Parndana School where senior students produce sustainable barramundi and culinary herbs for supply to the lodge.
In between, guests will be able to eat, drink and rub shoulders with their hosts at winery lunches, cooking demonstrations, barbecues and sunset drinks. Each night will involve a celebration of the day’s harvest with a spectacular menu served around the table at Southern Ocean Lodge.
